The Accidental Husband

I was going to give this movie a review, but when I started looking for a production poster to include, I decided I should review them instead! This movie's production posters leave much to be desired.

Number One: Uma falling from sky. Weird. It reminds me of the "Overboard" poster (this movie also reminds me of that movie). Both guys look kinda silly.

Number Two: whose hands are those holding the flowers? Cause their definitely not Colin Firth's or Jeffrey Dean Morgan's... and the picture of Colin Firth is BLURRY.

Number Three: This is by far the best of the three... The movie was cute and fun, a good rental.
My favorite part? Sam Shepard. Sam Shepard always makes me think of Chuck Yeager (who broke the sound barrier). He played him in the movie "The Right Stuff." I like that. Here's a real picture of Sam Shepard WITH Chuck Yeager! You can find anything on the internet. Thank you, Google!

Take me out to the ball game!

Mom and Dad treated me and a few friends to the Orioles vs. Yankees game in Baltimore, and we had so much fun! Here are my friends: "crazy-eyes" Dylan, Jill and Andrew.

Mom and Dad wasted no time in breaking out their Space Blanket!
Me, Jill and Jeter... BFF's.

It got pretty cold, so we finally got desperate enough to break out our space blanket too... Go baseball!

They loved taking this picture...
The End!

Hammock-er Schlemmer with the 'Rents!

Mom and Dad have been in town the last couple days, and I've been enjoying showing them my digs- specifically, my favorite place to hang!Dad thought the Hammock was a nice resting place! lol
Mom liked it too. :)
More posts about their visit soon!

Clash of the Titans

Clash = meh. It wasn't terrible or anything, just not epic (like I wanted it to be- Avatar has ruined me). Though the flying horses were pretty neat. It was dark, figuratively and literally! Something about those 3D glasses make the movie really hard to see. It didn't seem that three dimensional, either. From now on I think I'll only do 3D if it involves IMAX. I'll save all other movie going for good old fashioned 2D.
Sam Worthington is still pretty hot... though I liked him better in Terminator. (Avatar doesn't count, since he was mostly blue...)

Say it isn't so!

In reference to a post I made earlier this week called Girls Just Want to Have Fun, I have something to confess:

My next door neighbors are not from the islands, none are Hawaiian, and none are in an Island band called "Hawaiian Sunrise". I made it up. I thought you would get my joke... but you did not.

Several people have told me how cool it is that my Hawaiian neighbors play us island music while in our hammock. While that would be quite amazing (and ideal) it just isn't so. Who are these guys in this picture, then? you ask? Beats me! Uh... google?
In keeping with obscure movie references (for Shelby), "Hawaiian Sunrise" is about as real as the Flux Capacitor.Time travel just ain't possible... unless of course you're living on the Island from LOST (which most people think is just a television show, but in reality it's a documentary mini-series about actual events!)

a Jack uh Hammer...

As some of you may remember, I ranted and raved recently when I was being driven crazy by jackhammers outside my NY window... followed by my reveling in the realization that I was moving to the suburbs where there are no jackhammers! My excitement was probably not unlike that of Papa Mousekewitz (from An American Tail) when he was certain there were "no cats in America".

Well, guess again.

I was awakened before SEVEN A-M on Monday morning with a familiar, if not horrendous, noise outside my window. My eyes were squeezed close, and I thought in a panic... Where am I? OH HEAVENS, what if I open my eyes and I'm back in New York?! - - - Delirium subsided, I opened my eyes and breathed a sigh of relief (I was still in Virginia). But how and WHY was I hearing jackhammers?!

Apparently, cleaning, blossoming flowers and blue sky's aren't the only things that Spring brings to Virginia. At my lovely little condo, so come renovations! And this Spring, some fancy pants decided that our sidewalks were a little too uneven. Big ORANGE X's mark each slab slated for jackhammer removal (most of which are right outside my window). And by the look of things outside, I'm guessing at LEAST three additional weeks of jackhammer mornings.I mean, it's not that bad, right? I only wake up at 9am, so jackhammering that starts before 7am will only destroy 2 hours of my beauty sleep... five days a week... for at least three weeks...

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

I know this because (a) I am a girl
and
(b) I just want to have fun

The current best three ways I know to achieve aforementioned "fun" are as follows-

NUMERO UNO
Hammock-er Schlemmer......preferably one that comes with a VIEW.
NUMBER TWO
PiƱa coladas...
...which can be substituted for Coconut popsicles (depending on the venue).
AND LASTLY
Island Music!!!Meet Reggie, Bill, and Kilikopela- our neighbors from the islands, and members of the band "Hawaiian Sunrise"

Movie night... it's been awhile!

It's been awhile since I reported on any movie (aside from Avatar) and last night I watched TWO so I thought I would share with YOU.

My roommate rented Possession, about a girl whose husband and his brother are both in comas after an accident, but when the brother wakes up he thinks he's the husband! It was kind of scary, and pretty good. Not to mention, Lee Pace was the main guy, and he is HOT. I love tall, dark and goofy looking...

Movie number two! This one was VERY random indeed, but I ran across a hilarious quote yesterday which made me want to see it! (Watch it...)

Horton Hears A Who! was very very cute, I really liked it a lot. Especially when the Jim Carrey elephant dances around, reminds me of my nephew Colton who (at age 3) told me once that "Elephants are nice." Yes Colton... yes, they are! It's a great kids movie, especially since the bad guy gets rehabilitated/accepted back into society at the end. Those are the best kinds of animations. Low on violence, high on cuteness and happiness and funness... fun-ness... finesse?

I've been needing a comfy pair of sneakers that aren't my running shoes, and today I got them! Aren't they cute?

Ten PM Pancakes

I had been working through a dozen eggs in my weekly pancake breakfasts, when I noticed one egg in my carton was misshapenly HUGE and weird looking, so I skipped over it... until it was the last egg left. And then tonight I was suddenly STARVING and in true Ashley fashion had nothing to eat in the house but pancake mix and ingredients. I opened the fridge and pulled out the carton, knowing (but hoping not) that I'd find the last weird egg. Well, there it was. I had held the egg up to the light before to make sure there was no half developed chicken inside (there was not) so I thought, what the heck, I'm starving, I'll just crack the egg first and if it's nasty inside I can toss it.Well, much to my surprise and enjoyment, there was nothing wrong with the egg at all! In fact, it gets better than that... my egg was TWINS! Two yolks plopped into my bowl.(When I ran to get my camera, the egg yolks started to break...)
I wonder if twin egg yolks can hatch into twin baby chicks? That would be cool. I think chicks are so flippin cute... and kittens! Who comes up with this stuff?! Um... brilliant. PS the pancakes hit the spot.

Curbside Cupcake?!

Imagine my delight when I found out Curbside Cupcake had selected National Geographic as a stopping point this afternoon! I didn't even know that such a thing existed until I started hearing all my co-workers yelling over the cubes "vote for Curbside Cupcake on Facebook to get them to our office!" (apparently all my co-workers were on facebook) And well, everyone voted, and we won! Up drove the pink van, and all of NGT flooded out the door and into the line where at the end was a perfectly iced cupcake. Delicious!

What I've been up to lately...

Shelby requested a cartoon. This is where you'll find me.

Prison Internet Search

Searching for prison footage online, my co-worker found this! It is so funny, it looks like a few choreographers were imprisoned in the Philippines, and made very good use of their time! lol

The Motley Fool

I've recently enjoyed reading some articles from this website called "The Motley Fool" and then I realized it was founded right out of my (new) backyard! Which makes me like it even more. I found this recent article especially interesting- if not overall concerning. Where is all this money coming from that the Government keeps spending?

(Don't) Read My Lips: Higher Taxes Are Inevitable"President Barack Obama campaigned on the pledge that he would not raise taxes on the middle class. If you believed that, I have some bad news for you (if you haven't figured it out on your own). President Obama's promise is unsustainable. Virtually every individual and every investor will face higher taxes. There is an inevitability about this because his economic program is not fiscally sustainable..."
